The Buzz Club is a non-profit that is run out of the University of Sussex. Our Director, Prof. Dave Goulson (Professor of Biology and best-selling author) set us up about 5 years ago with a group of other scientists to share a fascination with insects.
Garden invertebrates are currently in decline, under threat from a variety of different factors, the majority of which are man-made. Therefore, we need to actively conserve these animals and excitingly, your outdoor space is a great place to do just that!
The Buzz Club creates easy and accessible experiments that you can do in your garden to help us understand how to conserve garden wildlife (especially pollinators). We have hundreds of volunteers across the UK who are making a real difference to real science by becoming Buzz Club Citizen Scientists. Our projects are suitable for those of all ages and abilities and are free to take part in – the more people we can get engaged with our mission, the more of an impact we can have in conserving insects!
So why not get involved?! We are currently planning our projects for 2025. Keep an eye on our website here for more info: https://www.thebuzzclub.uk/projects. If you don’t want to join a project, then don’t worry there are more ways to get involved! Join one of our online events here: https://www.thebuzzclub.uk/events, find free resources including planting guides and ID quizzes on our website or check us out on Facebook, Instagram, Blue Sky, Threads and LinkedIn.
