With 70% of the Weald to Waves corridor being agricultural land, the farming voices in the landscape will always be among the most essential in delivering effective action for nature recovery.
We are pleased to welcome one our newest team members, Ryan Ellis, with a blend of farming and ecological experience that enables him to support the development of the Weald to Waves corridor, with food production and habitat management as integral components of a sustainable landscape.
Ryan comes from a farming family in Gloucestershire, and from an early age managed his own flock of Lleyn sheep. Becoming increasingly enthused and curious about the interactions between his farming practices, and the surrounding habitats and wildlife, he began to develop his career as a conservationist.
After studying Biochemistry at the University of Bristol, Ryan went on to a Masters’ in Bioinformatics, Ecology and Evolution at Imperial College London. He has since worked in multiple roles for the Wildlife Trusts, building his skillsets in ecology and practical conservation. He has joined us as Landscape Advisor, and is already becoming a familiar face, working to build our network of farmers and land managers across the Weald to Waves corridor.
